G.R.E.E.R Chicago

How fun are these? They caught my eye upon entering the G.R.E.E.R Chicago site. In my opinion, this is proof that sometimes the simplest ideas are the best. The site is full of really fun stuff by and large. Were they in Chicago when I lived there? I wonder if they take commissions or how they decide what products to buy? Their indie designer sections are VERY interesting from a 'producer' point of view. Hmmmm...

  1. Hi. My name is Chandra Greer and I'm the owner of GREER and greerchicago.com. Your question about how we choose our products is an interesting one.

I have been in the stationery world for almost 10 years and spend an enormous amount of time sifting through a dauntingly large array of what we could carry both in our stores and on our website.

What it usually boils down to is my personal taste and whether I connect to the product. I love great design and I love each and every product we sell. If a product manages to be beautiful, intelligent and functional that's usually it for me. I'm also fiercely committed to showcasing small, independent designers because I am a designer, too and I vividly remember the days when a little support from someone in a position to help me was greatly appreciated.

We do not accept commissions; we buy all products outright and usually won’t bring a designer or product line on board unless we are willing to enter into a long-term relationship with them.

Thank you for your mention of our site, the support of "influencers" in the Internet community means the world to us.

    Kind regards,

    Chandra Greer

  2. How about that? In a world that sometimes seems so impersonal, people can really pleasantly surprise you sometimes. Now I'm not only a fan of the products GREER sells, but impressed with the company as well. I believe it's the people pulling the strings behind the scenes that give businesses their essence. This appears to be another proof in the world of GREER. Thanks Chandra.
