Bird Feeders

Dan recently bought a couple of birdfeeders and some fancy food, and hung them in our back garden. There hasn't been too much life around them that I've seen, until today. I didn't have to work, and the combination of drizzly dismal weather and the fact that I don't feel 100% anyhow has kept me inside. I found while looking out the window that the bird feeders are quite the hub of activity today! I've been watching greenfinches and house sparrows flutter around with the occasional intrusion of a couple of bullying starlings most of the day. Then, I was so happy to see the arrival of a blue tit, who seems to rush up to the feeder, grab some food, and rush back off to wherever he feels safer. I'm hoping that at some point the feeders will also attract a goldfinch, which I've only seen once in our garden, last July. In fact, it's the only time I've seen one ever in my life. Fortunately, I managed to get a snapshot of him before he went away (above in our weedy, needing a mow garden). Dan and I are really getting to love the birds we see and hear more and more, and being in England has exposed me to all sorts of birds I haven't experienced before... not least of all the coveted blackbird.
