chaos & calm

I'm pretty pleased with both of the two paintings I worked on today, and one thing that is so striking is how COMPLETELY different they are. The finished one features a very calm and serene capybara (possibly two or three seconds away from getting spooked, jumping and dashing away). This was the second painting of the two.

The other, as yet unfinished (so I've only shown some detail), is just a tad bit different (read: bonkers crazy). I think its title will somehow include the word "hangover". It was started last night after returning from the pub, and began to develop in the haze of this morning. I'll let you fill in the blanks. Stay tuned for a complete picture.

  3. lol I love that little capybara, he's cute, you might be right about him getting spooked and dashing away as capybara were/ are eaten during lent in Venezuela, as they spend most of their time in the water, they were given fish status....

  4. Wow, I didn't know that! I wonder if they ate them any other time of year? ... and I wonder who was the first to realise it was a rodent and not a fish. Yikes. I prefer my capybaras alive and kicking. :)

  5. I want to see the rest of the pink and green one! It reminds me of this Winnie the Pooh coloring book that my older brother, who was in art school, colored in a picture with me one day. He colored the rabbit hole pink and used green for all the shadows and I was stunned at how beautiful it looked. I couldn't look away and I had never thought of painting a rabbit hole pink. He was my hero that day for sure!

  9. As far as I know they eat Capybaras (Chiguire) all year round. As for the fish part, I think it was the church that declared them a fish, tho I'm sure they all know its a giant rodent.
